HIS TRUTH

PRAYER JOURNAL 2/21/19

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, THE TRUTH, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.

Every generation contributes new words, new “buzz” phrases, a new way at looking at things that have always been.  The usually reflect the trajectory of society; some may be truly enlightened based on new facts and discoveries but sadly, most reflect the hidden desires and lusts of mankind which are no longer hidden but celebrated.

Two such phrases that I am beginning to hear with more frequency are, “YOUR WORD,” such as “you need to READ YOUR WORD” and “YOUR TRUTH,” in “take these facts and APPLY THEM TO “YOUR TRUTH!”

WHAT….The second statement is definitely an oxymoron.

 FACTS ARE TRUTH AND TRUTH IS TRUTH AND IF THEY DON’T AGREE, YOU HAVE A CONTRADICTION AND ONE IS NOT TRUTH OR ONE IS NOT A FACT. 

Now that you are totally confused, let me clarify, there is no YOUR TRUTH and MY TRUTH, there is only THE TRUTH…anything else is just an opinion and if it doesn’t agree with THE TRUTH, your opinion is in ERROR!

Now to the first phrase, “Your Word;” while the intention may be to personalize your daily time of devotions, it is NOT YOUR WORD; IT IS HIS WORD!  In the NKJV, when the Psalmist says in 119:11 YOUR WORD, have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You, does anyone’s “truth” really interpret that YOUR as personal?  Of course not, it is talking about HIS WORD; the WORD OF GOD!

John 8:32 And you shall know THE TRUTH and THE TRUTH shall make you free.

This verse gets used and abused in varying situations from pulpits, television pundits, parents and the man on the street. But what is Jesus really saying here?  Is it as some define the statement as, “if you know all the facts or if you confess all your secrets or if you just be authentic, you will feel so free?”  NO, NO AND NO!!!! 

READ IT! 

If you read the verse in context with John 8:36 Therefore if the SON makes you free, you shall be free indeed.  A little applied logic could only lead you to the conclusion that THE TRUTH is THE SON and THE SON is JESUS CHRIST, therefore THE TRUTH IS JESUS CHRIST and only KNOWING HIM WILL MAKE YOU FREE!

After deep contemplation, I think my real hang up is with the word “YOUR” or “MY.”  There is no “YOUR” or “MY,” there is only “HIM” and “HIS”…HIS TRUTH; HIS WORD!

THE TRUTH (THE WORD) CAN ONLY BE REVEALED TO A PERSON AFTER THEY COME INTO RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TRUTH (JESUS CHRIST).

In conclusion if you do not know Jesus Christ you do not KNOW TRUTH.  If His Spirit does not dwell in you, there is NO TRUTH in you.  If you read YOUR WORD, through YOUR VIEWPOINT, according to YOUR INTERPRETATION to affirm YOUR DESIRES…HIS WORD WILL NEVER BE REVEALED TO YOU!

My prayer today is that you and I will continue to be SEEKERS OF THE TRUTH!
