Romans 8:3 For what the
law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by
sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He
condemned sin in the flesh
A thread on Tithing…Whether we should or shouldn’t? Was it law and still valid under grace? Makes me think about why we do what we
do. Is it because it is commanded or is
it done out of relationship with Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Spirit?
I have never killed
anyone; not because the law says I can’t but because I have no desire to hurt
someone…why?
I have never robbed a bank, not because the law says it is a
felony, but because I have no desire for something that is not mine… why?
The law could command you to not commit adultery and
pronounce a penalty for adulterers, but it could not stop a person from
lusting.
The law could command you to not murder and pronounce a
penalty for murderers, but it could not stop a person from hating.
The law could command, “Thou shalt not lie,” and pronounce a
penalty for liars, but it could not take the deviousness from your heart.
The law could demand a tithe but not cause it to come from a
cheerful heart.
The law could codify sins and pronounce penalties for
disobedience, but it took Jesus and His sacrifice to change hearts and give us
the ability to fulfill the law…
BECAUSE OF LOVE, MERCY AND GRACE.
