Today is March 16; 3rd month, 16th day or 3:16. In honor of today, I would like to revisit one of the most famous verses in the Bible.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
What a beautiful portrayal of God's plan for mankind. It gives us insight into the character of God; God is love. It also provides us with hope. A hope that assures us we don't have to continue living in a desperate situation. A hope that says there is something more beyond this life. No wonder it is the most quoted and best loved verse in the Bible. As Steven reminded us this morning, it is not the most important verse in the Bible, but only one of many important verses. John 3:16 must be included but others must not be excluded so that the entire picture of God's amazing plan can be discovered.
To gain a better understanding of God, start with John 3:16 and continue until all the pieces fit together and Jesus Christ is revealed. For God was in Christ, reconciling himself to the World, 2 Corinthians 5:19.
